Thank you Neville’s Cross electorate

by Grenville Holland on 4 May, 2018

I was delighted to be elected at 01.58 this morning as one of your Parish Councillors in the Neville’s Cross Division.

With 24 candidates this count for Neville’s Cross will go down as one of the longest and most complex counts ever held in Durham.  All the candidates and those who voted owe a significant vote of thanks to the Council’s election staff for their work to make the process as smooth, as friendly and as open as possible from the opening of the postal votes on Wednesday morning at 09.30 until 01.58 this Friday morning when Terry Collins could finally announce the result.

It is pleasing to see my fellow LibDems Liz Brown, Elizabeth Scott and Alan Doig being elected alongside me, giving you a powerful and experienced LibDem voice on your new Paris Council.  Also elected in Neville’s Cross were local independent candidate Roger Cornwell, Jonathan Elmer and Labour candidates Esther Ashby and Carole Reeves.

In the Elvet and Gilesgate Division, your hard-working LibDem County Councillors Richard Ormerod and David Freeman were elected alongside Mandy Ross and Judith Atkinson, providing you with a strong Liberal Democratic majority voice on the Parish Council.

The first meeting of this new Parish Council is on Thursday 10th May 2018 and I encourage any resident with any points they wish me to raise to contact me.
